The whole country was taken by surprise when suddenly all the news channels were automatically tuned into the Prime Minister Modi addressing the country. Prime Minister Modi in his speech said that the bank notes of the denominations 500 and 1000 will no longer be a legal tender after midnight and these old notes will be replaced with new ones which is rumored to have GPS , we will discuss this in an another article . This news gave the corrupt and hoarders chills down the spin

But the only thing which fascinates me is how India conducted a very covert revenue operation and jolted the country with the announcement

Although the pictures of 2000 rupee notes were leaked in the media but no one could figure out what was going on inside the Finance Ministry’s and RBI’s office.

With highly placed sources in the Prime Minister’s office we have gathered some information regarding this “SURGICAL STRIKE ON BLACK MONEY”

So here it goes

  • November 3 – The Prime Minister held a meeting with the Finance Minister to review the developments of this operation and how much have they advanced in the ops
  • November 4 – The Prime Minister met with the newly appointed RBI Governor Urijit Patel to discuss the feasibility of the operation of that scale. This information was only with the Prime Minister,Finance Minister, RBI Governor and the people working on the Nashik RBI mint (many people involved in this operation were told that the 2000 rupee note was minted on a trial basis and weren’t told the reality)

  • November 7 – The Prime Minister again meets the Finance Minister along with RBI governor and this time new faces are to be seen in the high level meetings like the Home Minister and RBI governors of states and deputy governor and BJP President Amit Shah .The government finalized the date of announcement. And mails were sent out to RBI regional offices vaguely mentioning that they should stop accepting 500 and 1000 rupees note from Wednesday
  • November 8 (Day Of Announcement)  – At around 1:00 pm the Prime Minister chaired a final meeting with his team and at 4:55pm alert email and fax were sent to the RBI regional offices , this time clearly stating that Wednesday onwards they shouldn’t take any 500 and 1000 rupee note and they should be reluctant in giving out 100 rupee note. THEN AFTER EVERYTHING, PRIME MINISTER CAME OUT AND ADDRESSED THE MEDIA AT 8:00 pm AND DECLARED 500 AND 1000 TO BE INVALID AND NULL POAT MIDNIGHT
