Jalahalli Sree Ayyappa temple in Bangalore attracts a lot of devotees and is considered to be the Sabarimala of Karnataka.

Bangalore maybe known as the IT hub of India but is also a place soaked in rich culture, heritage and history. There are many temples dedicated to Lord Ayyappa in Kerala, and the holiest being the one at the sacred Sabari Hills.

The sphere of influence of Lord Ayyappa had spread beyond the boundaries of Kerala and new Ayyappa Temples had started springing up at various places not only in the other states of the South and North India but even in other countries also. The first such Ayyappa Shrine to have come up outside Kerala state is the Temple at Jalahalli West.

The temple is situated on Subroto Mukherji Road at Jalahalli West. The distance from Bangalore City and Bangalore Cantonment railway stations are 14 km and 12 km respectively. It is 5 km from BEL Circle on the Outer Ring road.

The temple is constructed in Kerala style of architecture, as you step into the temple, one would come across the tall flag post which is entirely gold plated and the wordings ‘Thathwamasi’ in translation means ‘That you are’ which is a common sight in most of the temples dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. The main deity is Lord Ayyappa, apart from which one find smaller shrines dedicated to Ganapathi, Devi, Subramanya, Nagaraja and the Navagrahas.

The temple provides midday meals to all the devotees throughout the year, which is something very unique. The temple building also has a hall for the various cultural and religious programmes to be conducted and also has a library within its premises. The temple follows the rituals as per the Sabarimala temple an exception here is women are allowed into the temple unlike Sabarimala, and also the temple is open to everyone irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.
