Punjab polls: Video shows AAP MP Bhagwant Mann inciting mob to pelt stones at Akali leaders
The MP from Sangrur was suspended from Lok Sabha during the winter session in December, 2016 after he was found guilty by a parliamentary panel of putting the security of Parliament House at risk.
With less than a month to go for Assembly polls in the state, the season of ‘dubious’ videos and controversial remarks is back in Punjab. The latest incident involves Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mannn, who has been at the helm of several controversies in the past.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has released a video showing Bhagwant Mann inciting a mob to pelt stones on Akali leaders. The ruling party has approached the Election Commission with a complaint against the stand-up comedian-turn-politician.
Notably, a few days ago a group of people threw stones at the cavalcade of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at Kandhwala Hazir Khan village in his constituency Jalalabad in Fazilka district, leaving four Akali supporters injured.
MANN NOT NEW TO CONTROVERSIES
Bhagwant Mann is not new to controversies. The MP from Sangrur was suspended from Lok Sabha during the winter session in December, 2016 after he was found guilty by a parliamentary panel of putting the security of Parliament House at risk.
Mann had landed in a controversy in July after live-streaming on social media his entry into the Parliament House. The video showed security details of the highly -secured building.
In October 2015, Mann was chased out of a gurdwara in Faridkot’s Bargari village after people found him drunk. Mann was heckled outside the gurdwara by villagers.
A video released on Facebook showed the Member of Parliament being chased away by local residents. “Daaru peeke aaya hai daaru (He is drunk),” some people are heard shouting in the video.
