Shocking: What Killer Altintas Of Russian Envoy Which Media Did Not Show
Just a short time later, Turkish policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas shot veteran Russian ambassador Andrey Karlov nine times in the back during the opening of a photography exhibition.
Turkish authorities identified the gunman as Altintas, a member of Ankara’s riot police squad, who was later killed in a shootout with police.
Altintas shouted in Turkish about the Syrian city of Aleppo and also yelled “Allahu akbar”, Arabic for “God is great”.
However investigators have yet to comment on the 22-year-old’s motive for yesterday’s brutal killing at the Contemporary Arts Centre in central Ankara.
He was killed by police after a 15-minute standoff.
